Panama Canal Tour — Atlantic Side (Colón)

Approx. 6 hoursDuration
$120 per person2 person minimum

Discover the Atlantic side of the Panama Canal — where modern engineering meets centuries of history, and wild jungle gives way to the beating heart of global trade. This full-day tour from Colón is a rare opportunity to witness both the old and the new as you explore two distinct canal lock systems and the breathtaking ruins of a colonial fort.

Your adventure begins with a comfortable drive to the Caribbean province of Colón, where you’ll be guided by a local expert through a journey that connects the past, present, and future of the canal.

Entrance to the Agua Clara and Gatún Locks is not included in the tour price and is paid separately by each guest on arrival.

Tour highlights

  • Agua Clara Locks — the expanded canal locks built for today’s mega-ships, with panoramic views and interactive exhibits
  • Gatún Locks (Original Canal) — the historic locks where ships have been lifted and lowered for over a century
  • San Lorenzo Fort — a UNESCO-listed site at the mouth of the Chagres River, with stone ruins once defended against pirates and rival empires
